January 2010 Newsletter
Dear Members
Welcome to an exciting new year for the performing arts. I’m looking forward to working with four new national awards art forms this year, and to meeting up with you all at the AGM/Conference in March and at the awards in October.
Adjudicators for 2010:
Tap Dance: Carrie Green from Melbourne
Vocal: Anthea Moller from Perth
Pianoforte: Max Olding from Queensland
Ballet: to be appointed
Membership invoices, Entry Levy and APRA forms are enclosed
A reminder to pay your $100 membership invoice by 26 February. On receipt of payment, I will send each society a letter acknowledging membership to PACANZ. (This is a requirement for most applications to gaming charities, as evidence of affiliation to a national body).
Entry Levies and APRA Levies are due within a month of your last competition for the year.
Reports from Societies
Societies are invited to submit a brief written report, with highlights and innovations. Email to admin@pacanz.co.nz, or mail to the Pacanz Office (PO Box 2455, Wakatipu, 9349, Queenstown). For inclusion in the Annual Report they must be in the hands of the Executive Officer, Sue Patterson by February 10, 2010.
The written reports help those attending the AGM, and give an opportunity for those not represented to read what is happening in other societies. Conference time is given for sharing of ideas or questions arising from these reports.
Conference and AGM 2010, 27 March, Christchurch
Criteria Committees
During the conference, the Criteria Committees will meet to discuss the 2011 National Young Performer Awards (Modern Dance, Highland Dance, Instrumental and Speech and Drama). The 2010 NYPA criteria (Ballet, Pianoforte, Vocal/Singing, Tap Dancing) criteria were discussed at the 2009 AGM.
The committees will make a recommendation to go before the PACANZ Executive for final consideration. A 2011 draft art form criteria form was included in your November newsletter (based on 2009 criteria) to help you in recommending changes. Societies not represented at the AGM may write comments in the space provided and return the form to the Pacanz Office for consideration during the conference.
Included with this newsletter:
- Notification of nomination form
- Entry Levy form and APRA Form
- Society Membership invoice
All the best for 2010
Sue Patterson, Executive Officer
